The effect of the organic ligands on the magnetic behavior of Fe oxide nanoparticles. A numerical study
Bariloche, 20/10/2025
In this presentation, Kalliopi Trohidou discussed the effect on the magnetic properties of the Fe oxide nanoparticles of four different organic coatings prepared and characterized in the framework of the REMAP project. The numerical results, using a mesoscopic model that includes the ligands and particles characteristics and the interparticle magnetic interactions, show that the magnetic behavior of the four systems is very little affected by the type of ligands. The most important role is played by the percentage of coatings on the surface of nanoparticles which is closely related to the sample preparation conditions and the type of the ligands. The numerical results are in good qualitative agreement with magnetic measurements, confirming the formation of the aggregates, during the surface functionalization process.
